Residential Cross-Connection Control Survey
The City of Harbor Springs would like to notify water customers that a Residential Cross-Connection Control Survey will be mailed to households in the coming weeks.
What’s Happening:
Residents will be receiving a paper survey asking about fixtures and equipment connected to their water supply, things like irrigation systems, pools, water softeners, boilers, and fire suppression systems. The survey is a routine part of the city’s cross-connection control program and is being mailed/distributed to households as part of that effort.
Why We’re Doing This:
Under the Michigan Safe Drinking Water Act (Act 399) and EGLE rules, the city is required to maintain an active cross-connection control program to protect the public water supply from backflow contamination. Annual residential surveys are a standard component of that program, not something specific to any one address or resident.
What Residents Are Asked to Do:
Complete and return the paper survey. There is no cost, and no action is required beyond returning it unless the survey identifies a potential cross-connection, in which case they may be contacted separately about next steps (which could include backflow device installation or testing).
Residents are encouraged to call with any other questions or concerns. Thank you!
