The City is monitoring the developments concerning the spread of the 2019 coronavirus and we are in communication with County and State officials about the virus. Please see this informational sheet provided to the City by the Michigan Department of Health and Human Services.
On March 12, the Michigan Governor’s Office released these guidelines and recommendations for preventing and managing the spread of the virus. The basic recommendations remain the same: wash your hands, avoid people who are sick, and stay home and contact a health professional if you are sick or are displaying symptoms. Please refer to the following recommendations for specific demographics and institutions:
Area health care providers ask that if you are exhibiting symptoms of a fever over 100 degrees, cough and/or have shortness of breath, or you believe you may have been exposed to the Coronavirus, please call your primary care giver. If your primary care giver is located at one of the surrounding urgent care facilities, those facilities ask that you call in advance for instructions. Most health care providers to include Mclaren Hospital (Petoskey) offer Coronavirus testing; only at the recommendation of the patients primary care provider or if a suspect patient displays the symptoms of the Coronavirus. Coronavirus testing is billed as any other medical test.
