SUMMER EXERCISE CLASSES!

The City of Harbor Springs is offering exercise classes this summer with instructor Jeanne Schaberg. We are offering three fun classes: RE-FIT (cardio fitness), Tight and Toned, and Stretch for Life. Classes begin the week of Monday, July 5 and last through the summer. Class descriptions are below.

The cost for 10 classes is $70 ($7 per class) if you purchase a punch card at City Hall. The cost for each additional class is $6 per class. The drop-in fee is $10 per class. Please make payment at City Hall. You will receive a punch card that you can bring to any class.

RE-FIT (Cardio Fitness)
Mondays 9:30 AM City Hall/Ottawa Stadium Parking Lot
We’ve stayed at home, we’ve worn our masks, we have done our Social Distancing. We have binge watched Netflix, cleaned out our sock drawer and maybe…. just maybe gotten a little out of shape. So, what do we do? We could sign up for the next 5K or begin doing hundreds of push ups and crunches. OR we could be kind to our body and sign up for RE-FIT offered by the Department of Parks and Recreation, City of Harbor Springs.
With RE-FIT you can work out the “kinks” and the calories in a small group environment that will include an hour of fun, easy to follow cardio and muscle toning work. This is for all fitness levels, as modifications for various moves throughout the class. If you’ve never been a regular exerciser RE-FIT is for you. If you’ve been active your entire life and just got a little off your schedule during the Pandemic, RE-FIT is for you. So, clear out your DVR, trade your house slippers for sneakers and get RE-FIT in a safe but fun environment.

TIGHT & TONED
Tuesdays 9:30 AM Zorn Park
Sculpt your entire body while building muscle through small movements and isometric work. This 45-minute class will use body weight exercises to tone your arms, legs, butt and abs. This challenging class accommodates all fitness levels.

STRETCH FOR LIFE
Thursdays 9:30 AM Zorn Park
It’s a fact that we begin to lose our range of motion as we age. The old saying “if you don’t use it you lose it” couldn’t be truer in this case. But the good news is, we can avoid this part of ageing. By doing some simple stretches every day, we can keep our muscles long and agile for life. This class will provide an easy to follow and easy to practice foundation for maintaining flexibility and range of motion. This is a class for any age, any fitness level and anyone who may struggle with leg cramps, sciatica, or tight muscles. Instructors will only use static stretches to avoid the possibility of injury or hyperextension. Techniques will be incorporated into this class to promote and improve balance; something we can all use to avoid unnecessary falls.
