Suspension of Marina Rule C.11 on Occupancy of Slips and Moorings

Posted on April 27th, 2020

The COVID-19 pandemic and the accompanying federal and statewide restrictions have created significant disruptions for businesses and individuals. The boating community is no exception. The City understands that many permit holders may not be able to boat at all this summer or as much as they would like to due to the pandemic and restrictions. Although Governor Whitmer has lifted the complete ban on boating, some individuals may find it difficult to get their boats on the water and others may want to avoid boating due to future unknowns associated with the coronavirus.

Therefore, for the 2020 boating season, the City is suspending the 29-day stipulation of Rule C.11 (as amended on July 21, 2014) on page 11 of the Harbor, Waterfront and Marina Rules and Regulations. Rule C.11 requires the permit holder to occupy the assigned slip or mooring for over 29 nights between June 28 and August 15. The City will not revoke your permit for failing to occupy your assigned slip or mooring this summer.
