Parks Board Special Meeting Monday, March 13th 6PM MDNR Grant Concept Designs

The Parks and Recreation Board will be holding a special meeting Monday, March 13th 6PM @ City Hall to review and give feedback on concept designs for two Michigan Department of Natural Resources grants. If you cannot attend this meeting but would like to provide input please email parksdirector@cityofharborsprings.com. You may also provide input at the City Council meeting March 20th 7PM @ City Hall where we will hold public hearings on each grant project.

Harbor Springs Skatepark Remodel – MDNR Passport Grant

We are requesting a $150K grant for our concrete skatepark project. We have currently fundraised over $270K for our new Evergreen concrete skatepark. This grant will go towards landscaping around the new skatepark and new windows for the building. The Parks and Recreation Board is asking for feedback from our community on the landscaping concept design. We will have separate meetings in regard to reviewing the concrete skatepark designs over the 2023 summer season.

Kiwanis Renovations – MDNR Trust Fund Grant

We are requesting a $300K grant to renovate Kiwanis Park. The proposed scope items of grant would be improved access to restrooms, parking, ice rink, and improved ADA accessibility. This is a concept design based on input we have received at our sledding events and removing the ice rink at the soon remodeled skate park. This is not a final design. The Parks and Recreation Board is asking for feedback from our community.
