Andrew Potter comes to the City of Harbor Springs with 25 years’ experience in the public service sector living in Michigan his entire life minus 4 years while serving in the United States Air Force. After serving in the U.S. Air Force, Andrew joined the Oak Park Police Department as a Public Safety Officer serving in both roles as a police officer and firefighter retiring in 2006. Shortly after retiring, Andrew became involved with the National Trust for Historic Preservation and the Main Street philosophy of economic development joining the Ortonville Downtown Development Authority/Main Street Program. Since that time, Andrew has served in different degrees and roles of municipal administration to include Downtown Development Authority Director, Main Street Manager, Planning Administrator, Finance Director, City Administrator, and Assistant Village Manager.
Andrew holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Criminal Justice from Ferris State University and a Master in Public Administration from the University of Michigan. Andrew has been married for 26 years and currently resides within the Harbor Springs city limits.
Andrew’s hobbies include rock-hounding (specifically Petoskey Stones, Lakers, and Chlorastrolite) and visiting all of Michigan’s beautiful and historic downtowns.
