Winter Activities

The Harbor Springs Sk8 Park/Ice Rink is offering free ice skating lessons Saturday mornings this winter from January 7 - March 3. Beginner and intermediate lessons are offered every half hour from 10 a.m. to noon. To register for the lessons, call the Harbor Springs Ice Rink at (231) 526-0610.  If you leave a message, please include the name, age and ability level of the skater, a contact number and the time you would like to attend lessons.

 

 

Description of Beginner Lessons

 For people who do not know how to skate.  People in the beginner lesson will become proficient in skating forward and stopping.

 

Description of Intermediate Lessons

 For people who know how to skate forward.  People in

 intermediate lessons will become proficient in stopping, skating backward, turning and a few tricks.

  

Ice Skate Rental = $1.00 per pair

The Harbor Springs Ice Rink has both figure and hockey skates

 Sizes  = child size 9 to adult size 13

 

 

The Harbor Springs Ice Rink is hosting Dinner and a Movie Nights Fridays throughout the winter at the ice rink/sk8 park (January 13 – March 9). Reservations are not required. If you are interested in coming, please plan on arriving at the ice rink no later than 5:20 p.m.  Pizza will be ordered at 5:30 p.m. Pizza is only ordered for those individuals who have paid.  No extra pizza is ordered. The Movie will start at 6:00 p.m. Cost for pizza, pop, and dessert is $3.00.  The movie is free.

 

The Harbor Springs Ice Rink is hosting Ice Skating Games and Activities Saturday afternoon from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. throughout the winter (January 14 – March 10).  Every Saturday participants will play a minimum of three games.  All participants will receive prizes.  Snacks and drinks will be provided.  Scheduled games include speed races, shoot the duck, limbo, paper cups, four corners, bowling, broomball, hockey skills, ship/shark/shore, Frisbee toss, red light/green light, obstacle course, hockey puck roll, bubble wrap pop, pom-pom, hockey puck keep away, ice skate races.

 

The Harbor Springs Ice Rink is hosting Board Game Days on Sunday afternoons from 1 p.m. to 3 p.m. at the ice rink throughout the winter (January 15 – March 11).  Every Sunday participants will have the opportunity to play a different board game.  All participants will receive prizes.  Snacks and drinks will be provided.  Scheduled games include Bingo, Uno, Sorry, Monopoly, Jenga, Trouble, Scrabble, Checkers, carnival games, Rummy, Clue, Yahtzee, and trivia.

 

The Harbor Springs Ice Rink is hosting a Community Sledding Night on Saturday, January 14 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kiwanis Park in Harbor Springs.  The event is free.  Activities will include free pizza, drinks and dessert, games, crafts, prizes and sledding.  The games will include Snow Treasure Hunt, Indoor Snowman Building, Indoor Ice Fishing, Snowball Relay Race, Mitten Mayhem, and Bingo.  Crafts will include decorate your own mittens and hats, editable snowmen, snowman mobile, and glittery window clings.  Participants are asked to bring their own sleds. 

 

 

The Harbor Springs Ice Rink/ Sk8 Park Snow Fort Building Contest

The Harbor Springs Ice Rink is challenging families to build snow forts at home in their yards. 

 

Families interested in participating in the Snow Fort Building contest must submit pictures of their forts to the Harbor Springs Ice Rink. Families can submit pictures of their forts and the fort building process in person, by email (harborsk8park@att.net) or by posting them on the Harbor Springs Sk8 Park’s Facebook page.

 

Deadline for entry = Sunday, January 22 at midnight

 

Forts will be judged based on creativity

 

The winning family will receive $25 gift certificate to B.C. Pizza

 

The Harbor Springs Ice Rink is hosting a Valentine Community Sledding Night on Saturday, February 11 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kiwanis Park in Harbor Springs.  The event is free.  Activities will include free pizza, drinks and dessert, games, crafts, prizes and sledding.  The games will include Heart Cup Stacking, Find Your Partner, Candy Guessing Game, Catch My Heart, Bingo, and Chop Sticks. Crafts will include heart pins, friendship bracelets, alligator Valentine box, Popsicle stick Valentine box, and heart mobile. Participants are asked to bring their own sleds.

 

 The Harbor Springs Ice Rink is hosting a Mardi Gras Party on Saturday, March 10 from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at Kiwanis Park in Harbor Springs.  The event is free.  Activities will include free pizza, drinks and dessert, games, crafts, prizes and sledding.  The games will include King Relay Race, Pinata, Bead Game Doubloon Toss, and Mask Hunt. Crafts will include cardboard box castle, jester on a stick, tragedy and comedy garland.

 

The Harbor Springs Ice Rink is hosting an Easter Egg Hunt and Party at Kiwanis Park in Harbor Springs on Saturday, March 31st from Noon to 3 p.m. The cost is $5.00 or a donation of five non-perishable food items per family.  Activities will include free lunch, egg hunt, pictures with the Easter Bunny, games and prizes, and crafts. The egg hunt begins promptly at noon so please plan on arriving early.  Lunch will include pizza, drinks, dessert, and snacks.  Games will include Bingo, Ring Toss, Bunny Darts, Pin the Tail on the Bunny, and Easter Disc Drop.  Crafts will include Easter Bucket Craft, Paper Plate Bunny and Easter Egg Wreath.

 

Sledding

The sledding hill at Kiwanis Park located on Arbor Street in Harbor Springs.  With a warming hut at the top of the hill for parents to watch and space for sledders, it's a great place to gather. The park is open Friday 3:00 - 8:00 p.m. and 12:00 - 8:00 p.m. on weekends. 231-242-0591.
