Getting connected is easy in Harbor Springs. Here’s the information to get you started with the utility providers serving the residents in the City.
The City of Harbor Springs currently services electricity to over 3,600 residential, commercial and industrial customers, water to over 1,336 customers, and sewer to over 1,078 customers.
To start, stop or change a service the customer needs to contact the Utility Customer Service department either in person at City Hall or by telephone at 231-526-0602. Upon contacting the Utility Customer Service, residents will be instructed to fill out an Application for Utility Services. A deposit is required for all renters as well as property owners who purchase a home in Little Traverse or Bear Creek Township. The City reads its utility meters on the third week of each month, and bills for utilities on the last week of each month based on actual usage.
The City offers it's customers the ability to pay their monthly bill by mail, in person at City Hall from 8:30 to 5:00 with cash or check only, by using the 24 hour drop box outside City Hall, or by signing up for autopay. Please click here to download the autopay authorization form, fill it out deliver it to the utility billing clerk either in person or by mail. When you sign up for autopay your utility statement balance will be automatically deducted from your checking account via an ACH transaction. When signing up for ACH Debit autopay you will still receive a monthly statement so that you can plan for the amount due to be deducted from your checking account. Please check with the utility billing clerk to find out the date of your autopay debit transaction. The City also offers Equal Payment billing. The Equal Payment billing is an amount equal to one eleventh of the estimated annual billing. The twelfth month is a reconciling month which either bills an amount owed from under billing during the year or a credit which is the amount over billed during the year.
