Notes from the City Manager
March 19, 2009
Thank you for the warm welcome
When I told friends, relatives and colleagues that I was coming to Harbor Springs, the responses were almost always exactly the same… "Oh what a lovely community, you’re going to love it there."
While I’ve only been here a few days, all of the people I’ve met, in meetings, restaurants and other businesses have reinforced the same sentiment… 'you’re going to love it here'. I'm starting to catch on.
What I’ve found so far is a community that seems to work, and work together. I’ve seen so many positive attributes that show that Harbor Springs is a community with many common goals and values, and it’s a community that successfully does what so many other cities only aspire to do.
Being chosen for this opportunity, I feel very fortunate to join a very dedicated and talented team of community leaders and public servants. I look forward to becoming better acquainted with all the residents and businesspeople of Harbor Springs.
While I dread seeing pictures of myself, I’ve included one in this message for one reason… If you see me in town, please introduce yourself. I’d like to meet the people that we serve. Knowing you, your concerns and your opinions helps us to keep our responsibilities in focus at all times.
